Looking for a Good CPA

I have been looking for a CPA for the last couple of months but have been pretty frustrated while on the phone with them, especially when I explain buying discounted notes to them.
Can you suggest a good way of looking for a good CPA, especially for the note business? What questions should I ask? How do I determine if they're good or not?
I have always prepaired my own taxes so I never worked with a CPA before and only now am I starting to realize the importance of having a good CPA.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
